Even though NBA free agency is still a few weeks away, the offseason is officially here. The 28 teams that are currently not in the NBA Finals have turned their attention to the offseason. This means that there will be a flurry of transactions, including rookies and newcomers fulfilling their NBA dreams.

With every newcomer, however, a veteran has to be squeezed out. There are only so many roster spots available in the best basketball league in the world. Once those fill out, players have to find contracts elsewhere.

Plenty of NBA veterans head overseas -- primarily to Europe or China -- every year, hoping to revive their careers and return to the United States.

This summer will be no different. This means that it could include some familiar names for Hawks fans.

Former Hawk Cam Reddish May Have to Go Overseas to Revive Career

One name to watch is former Atlanta first-round pick Cam Reddish. The 25-year-old wing is a prime candidate to sign an overseas deal this offseason after struggling to establish his NBA career since he was drafted with the tenth-overall pick in 2019.

Reddish has been without a team since the Lakers waived him before the end of the 2024-25 season. He had a decent-sized role in Los Angeles over the last two years but struggled from the field, both inside the arc and as a three-point shooter. As a Laker, he had a miserable 50.2% True Shooting, making him one of the least efficient role players in the league.

This was a continuation of his struggles in Atlanta. During his 2.5 seasons as a Hawk, Reddish showed intriguing flashes as a defender thanks to his solid size, length, and athleticism. Unfortunately, he has never been able to put it together offensively, and wasn't elite enough defensively to make up for his struggles on the other end.

However, the former Duke standout is still only 25 years old. An overseas stint to help him gain his confidence and improve his scoring touch could do him wonders. Whether Reddish agrees and takes advantage of that opportunity remains to be seen.
