With the NBA Finals underway between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers, the other 28 NBA teams are preparing for the 2025 NBA Draft. Teams are working out multiple draft prospects over the next few weeks to see if they could be a fit.

At the same time, other teams are hosting a veterans minicamp, giving guys who played in the NBA a chance to showcase their skills in hopes of landing a contract. One former Atlanta Hawk forward is working to get back to the Association after playing the last two years overseas.

Ex-Hawks Forward Malcolm Hill Attends Sixers Veterans Minicamp

A few days ago, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Philadelphia 76ers hosted several veterans for a two-day minicamp. Among the veterans in attendance was former Hawks forward Malcolm Hill.

Hawks fans might not remember Hill, who played three games in Atlanta after signing a 10-day contract on December 22, 2021. In his short stint with the Hawks, he averaged 5.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 15.3 minutes per game.

Atlanta did not extend Hill a second 10-day contract as he signed a series of 10-day deals with the Chicago Bulls. The 6-foot-6 forward signed a two-way pact with the Bulls before the 2022-23 season, but was waived in February of that season.

Hill only appeared in five regular-season games with the Bulls. In the middle of signing 10-day contracts and a two-way deal, the ex-Hawks forward was spending some time in the NBA G League.

The former Hawk signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the New Orleans Saints in September 2023, only to be waived a month later to go to their G League affiliate (Birmingham Squadron). With the Squadron, Hill averaged 23.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game (30 games).

Hill’s performance in the G League caught the Pels' attention, who signed him to a 10-day deal in January 2024 and then a two-way contract in February 2024. New Orleans did not bring back Hill this season, waiving him in October.

The ex-Hawks forward hasn’t had much NBA experience, but has shown in the G League that he can score and be a threat beyond the arc. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Hill on some team’s NBA Summer League roster in the coming weeks, which is the perfect place for him to show his skills.
