Jurickson Profar's selfish decision has cost Atlanta outfield depth and left a clear question mark, even when Ronald Acuña Jr. is able to return to the lineup. Michael Harris is the only current starter who has maintained his role with Acuna rehabbing and Profar suspended.

It is likely Acuña will need some days off early in his return, and Atlanta has a tough decision ahead with Profar. Even when the suspension is up, Atlanta's goals cannot be achieved with Profar. The outfielder isn't able to be on any postseason roster. With this in mind, the team must entertain adding a potential starter to their current roster.

Alex Verdugo's incredible start has helped cover up the loss of Profar and Acuña's absence. Still, the Braves should consider adding a contributor or someone capable of platooning with Verdugo when the games matter most. Looking at potential fits on the trade market, current Pirate outfielder and former MVP Andrew McCutchen stands out.

Former MVP Andrew McCutchen Would Be Perfect Energizing Final Piece to Atlanta's Outfield

McCutchen is likely to be dealt to a contender at this stage of his career. The veteran has been continually productive despite clearly aging over the past five seasons. What makes the outfielder such a great fit is the right-handed option it provides either off the bench or against left-handed starters. The potential addition of McCutchen is the best of both worlds, not blocking Verdugo if the hot start continues, and putting needed depth behind Harris and Acuña.

Pittsburgh appears to still be building for the future, bringing in a myriad of potential veteran trade chips in an attempt to cash in. Atlanta wouldn't need to give up a prospect of note for what would be a short-term solution. While Profar will likely return to the active roster, Atlanta would be wise to continue to start other options late in the season.

If they are going to make a postseason run, it will be without Profar. Wasting at-bats, allowing a player who can't contribute when the games matter most, could be viewed as a clear mistake. With this in mind, McCutchen could be the best of both worlds, giving a potential answer without blocking anyone in the future. It is a move that is enough of a fit that it demands exploring.
