The Atlanta Hawks have pretty much made most of their moves this offseason, but there is still time for them to do other things. After signing back most of their free agents, one is still on the market looking to get picked up by a team.
Jonathan Kuminga had his team option declined by the Hawks, making him an unrestriced free agent with the chance of landing with another team. That doesn't mean the Hawks can't re-sign him, but it may be for a lower price point than what he was getting paid this past season.
The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as a team that is interested in Kuminga, but he's looking for a certain amount of money. Though the Lakers don't have the cap space available, they could do a sign-and-trade with the Hawks to acquire him. The Hawks could be interested in doing that, depending on what they're getting in return.
There's one player whom the Hawks should be looking to take back in the trade, and it's Jake LaRavia.
Jake LaRavia would bring extra shooting to the Hawks
LaRavia played all 82 games for the Lakers last season, and he was a reliable wing who could shoot the 3-ball well. Though he only shot 32% from 3 last season, he shot 39% the season before with the Sacramento Kings, and 44% two years ago with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Add to the fact that LaRavia is just 24 years old, and he fits the Hawks timeline perfectly.
The Hawks are a team that likes to shoot 3s, and LaRavia would fit in perfectly in that role. The Hawks would probably ask for more in the trade, like a pick, and the only one the Lakers can offer is a 2032 first-round pick swap. That might not be enough for the Hawks' liking, and there's a chance they back out of a deal altogether.
There were rumors that the Lakers were offering Jared Vanderbilt to the Hawks, plus the 2032 first-round pick swap, but that wouldn't be much of a positive value for Atlanta. It'll be interesting to see if anything gets done between the teams and if Kuminga even signs with the Lakers.
