The MLB All-Star Game is right around the corner as the 2025 campaign continues to fly by. The Atlanta Braves are trending in the wrong direction before hosting the annual event at Truist Park, as a 38-44 record through 82 games puts Brian Snitker's club seven games back of the National League's final playoff spot.
In other words, the Braves need some help if they want to turn things around and qualify for the MLB postseason. Although July's trade deadline will provide an opportunity to add help, Atlanta will likely get an in-house contributor back sooner rather than later.
Braves RHP Daysbel Hernández to Begin Rehab with Triple-A Gwinnett
On Sunday morning, the Braves announced that injured reliever Daysbel Hernàndez will officially begin his rehab stint with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 28-year-old Cuban hurler has been limited to one appearance this month since he aggravated a forearm-related injury against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 4.

It isn't a secret that the Braves have experienced some bullpen woes this season; however, Hernàndez was one of the club's few bright spots before landing on the injured list. He had tallied 25 relief outings before landing on the sidelines, pitching to a 2.22 ERA as he struck out 21 batters across 24 1/3 innings.
Hernàndez has been with the Braves since he signed as an international free agent right before his 21st birthday. He spent a few seasons pitching in the minors before making his MLB debut during the 2023 campaign. Since then, he's gone 7-1 with a 2.74 ERA while averaging 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings in 45 career outings with Atlanta.
It's important for MLB clubs to have reliable bullpens to call upon, especially as the season progresses. Hopefully, Hernàndez will pick up from where he left off once he wraps up his rehab assignment because Atlanta's relief situation is much better when the right-handed veteran is on his game.
In the meantime, Braves fans can expect to have a better idea of when Hernàndez will return to Snitker's lineup after a rehab appearance or two.
