2. Bryce Elder

Just when it seemed the starter's stock couldn't dip any lower, we have the start to the 2025 season. It is easy to feel sorry for a player who clearly wants to win and was a surprise contributor for Atlanta two seasons ago. Still, there is no way around the ugly minor league start or the underwhelming performance against the Dodgers. All things considered, it is surprising Elder lasted as long as he did against a lethal offense.

Elder's future is likely going to be getting a change of scenery sometime in the next year. Even with the lack of rotation depth, it is clear the Braves have zero trust in Elder. AJ Smith-Shawver and Grant Holmes have far less experience and were deemed superior options. Atlanta doesn't trust Elder, and the minor league results haven't shown any growth. The best path for Elder is getting a chance with a rebuilding team that will give Elder a chance to reclaim his 2023 form and give the starter a role in the big league rotation.

3. Jarred Kelenic

Kelenic's future with the Braves appeared to be on incredibly shaky ground for the first week of the season. The outfielder struck out in nearly half his at-bats and offered very little resistance at the plate. Still, Kelenic continued to garner starts due to a complete lack of options. Bryan De La Cruz, Stuart Fairchild, and Eli White are the remaining options, with lone starter Michael Harris the lone starter on the active roster.

Kelenic did turn things around for one strong game against the Phillies, drawing three walks, scoring two runs, and getting a key hit. This was the patient and pesky approach Atlanta was expecting from Kelenic when they first acquired the outfielder.

One strong game isn't enough, however, to forget a week full of struggles. Kelenic is in danger of losing his starting role and roster spot with Alex Verdugo and Ronald Acuna Jr. both expected to be ready soon.
