The Kirk Cousins saga has been one of the more interesting situations in the NFL, with the 2025 NFL Draft set to kick off in a matter of days.
On Monday, the Falcons signed veteran quarterback Easton Stick, who presumably will be the No. 2 quarterback when Atlanta moves on from Cousins. However, the Falcons aren’t going to give Cousins away for free, and reportedly have stipulations on what they expect from another team in a potential deal.
That said, Cousins is in a tough spot after being a starter for most of his career. However, he is still doing his part to be a team player in Atlanta.
According to Zach Klein of WSB, the veteran quarterback has rejoined team as the Falcons opened up voluntary workouts on Tuesday.
Per NFL League source… On this very first day of Falcons voluntary workouts… Quarterback Kirk Cousins is with the team.

As you can imagine, some Falcons fans were surprised to see Cousins participating in voluntary workouts.
Earlier this month at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris told reporters he didn’t expect Cousins to be in attendance at voluntary workouts. However, if he showed up, they would welcome him back with open arms.
Cousins likely knows there aren’t many starting opportunities available right now, so it's best to be a constant professional and show the Falcons that he’ll do whatever is necessary as the backup QB behind Michael Penix Jr.
Morris also said at the league meeting that the Falcons are okay with Cousins being the backup in 2025, but won’t hold him back from being a starter if an opportunity shows itself.
Last season, Cousins struggled in his first year of a four-year, $180 million deal he signed with the club. The veteran quarterback completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 3,508 yards, 18 TDs, and 16 interceptions.
Cousins was benched with three games left in the regular season after a mediocre performance in a low-scoring Week 15 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Falcons went 1-2 down the stretch with Penix under center.
