Questions continue to surround the future of Atlanta Falcons pass catcher Kyle Pitts. There have been a lot of rumblings that perhaps the tight end could be traded for the right price. What this ignores is the fact that the Falcons would be trading Pitts at the lowest possible value. However, with how Atlanta's front office has operated over the last four seasons, it cannot be ruled out. Trading Pitts would be a mistake with only one year left on the deal. Seeing new quarterback Michael Penix Jr. can get on the same page and elevate the veteran is the right decision.
One, the Falcons cannot be relied on, with a recent questionable history of decision-making. Trading Pitts is still on the table, and Atlanta's former head coach can be counted among those with a heavy level of interest. According to a recent report from Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers reached out to the Falcons about acquiring Pitts. This doesn't come as a surprise with the team's obvious interest in adding a second established target for new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Kyle Pitts Could Reunite with Former Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith

OC Arthur Smith was Atlanta's head coach when the Falcons drafted Pitts 4th overall in 2021. https://t.co/Vv7mAp71ir
Pitts enjoyed the best season of his career under Smith, in what was Matt Ryan's final season with Atlanta. Things would quickly turn after Ryan's departure, with the head coach consistently using the pass catcher as a lead blocker or a decoy. There was a strong level of belief that it was Smith's fault for the incredible regression the tight end suffered.
However, with Zac Robinson's offense unable to get the desired results either it is obvious that it is the effort of Pitts and chemistry within the offense. It is clear that the team is frustrated with the inconsistent effort and the inability to find the potential of the pass catcher.
This is a player the Falcons selected 4th overall ahead of stars Ja'Marr Chase and Micah Parsons. It is this level of stardom and impact the Falcons were expecting from Pitts. The continual failures and frustrations could lead the team to make the mistake of trading the tight end in the final year of his deal. The latest report certainly makes it more likely, as it appears there is a feeling throughout the league that Pitts could be up for grabs.
