Latest Draft Report Signals Kirk Cousins' Next Team

Against all odds, Kirk Cousins is still an Atlanta Falcon. Despite constant speculation since the end of the disappointing 2024 season, Cousins is a part of this team, albeit in a backup role. How much longer that will be the case, however, remains to be seen.

With most of the quarterback questions answered around the league, the market for Cousins has dwindled. One team that has been the presumptive frontrunner to land Cousins is the Cleveland Browns.

After the latest draft report by The Athletic's Jeff Howe, the chances of Cousins becoming a Cleveland Brown next season increased significantly.

NFL News: Browns Leaning Toward Travis Hunter With the No. 2 Overall Pick

The Browns are reportedly eyeing two-way superstar Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick. This is confirmed by oddsmakers who have Hunter's odds of being the pick at No. 2 at -130, followed by Abdul Carter at +100.

This means that Cleveland's chances of selecting Shedeur Sanders are relatively low, assuming Cam Ward is the top pick in the draft.

Since the Browns are in a win-now mode, they will need a high-level quarterback. If they aren't drafting one, then they will need to get the best veteran available. And that is Kirk Cousins.

The Falcons have shied away from cutting Cousins so far due to the lack of financial incentives to do so. They are hoping that a team will get desperate enough, likely after the draft, to give up some draft capital or take on some of his salary in a trade.

It seems like the stars are aligning in Atlanta's favor. The Browns are increasingly looking like they will be desperate to land Cousins once they get out of the draft without a starting-caliber QB. That will be the best chance the Falcons have all offseason to get something in return for the 36-year-old signal-caller.
