The Atlanta Hawks will be starting training camp next season, and it looks like they have their roster ready to roll. They were one of the teams that made several moves throughout the offseason, and at one point, they had 17 players on the roster with guaranteed contracts.After waiving Devin Carter, they still have one more player to make a decision on, and as training camp and preseason go on, it'll be clearer who could get cut.
Before training camp, it looks like the Hawks are still trying to make moves, and itcould involve a tradewith the Charlotte Hornets.

Hawks are rumored to have interest in Dorian Finney-Smith
The Hawks were rumored to be trying to find a trade partner for Buddy Hield during the offseason, as his salary was fully guaranteed. The Hawks and Hield even agreed to push the date back on his guarantee, but they weren't able to find a deal for him. Now it looks like they may have a partner, and they could get back Finney-Smith.
Finney-Smith has been a serviceable 3-and-D wing throughout his career, and he played with the Houston Rockets last season, appearing in 37 games. He averaged 3.3 points per game but only shot 27% from the 3-point line, the worst of his career. The hope is that percentage can go up, but he can still be an average defender when he's on the floor.
Hawks could improve their wing depth with latest rumor
If the Hawks were able to land Finney-Smith, he wouldn't be playing that many minutes, and he'd probably be near the end of the rotation. With the roster already full of guards and wings, the only time Finney-Smith might see time on the court is because of injury or at the end of games. He still may be an upgrade over Hield, and it's strictly because of the defense.
There's no doubt that Hield can shoot the ball, but the Hawks weren't playing him as much last season. That will probably be the case this season if he's still on the team this season, but the Hawks may want some versatility on their roster at the wing position. It was evident thatthey wanted to improve that area, which is why they traded for Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It'll be interesting to see how the Hawks' roster shapes out heading into the season, and if they'll actually go through with the trade.
