Any questions as to whether or not the Atlanta Braves needed to add to the team's outfield ahead of this year's trade deadline were answered when Michael Harris exited Tuesday's game. While it appears the injury scare isn't as serious as first feared, it served as a reminder of the very limited depth the franchise currently has to offer in the outfield. Much of this can be pointed back to spring training when the franchise lost Jurickson Profar due to another selfish decision to ignore the league's banned substance list.

Adding to this is Ronald Acuna Jr. missing two chunks of the season with leg injuries. It is a familiar theme for an Atlanta team that continues to deal with endless injuries. Losing Harris would reduce the Braves to a starting trio of Mike Yastrzemski, Eli White, and Mauricio Dubon. This obviously greatly limits your offensive ability and points to an undeniable trade deadline need.

The Braves must aggressively pursue outfield help, understanding the consistent injury issues and the need it has exposed. While Dubon has been a welcome contributor offensively, having to shift Dubon into the outfield lessens the upside of the shortstop position.

With this in mind, it makes sense for Atlanta to look at the trade market with an open mind when it comes to adding to the position. The Braves need insurance if injuries continue to limit the upside of the position.

Braves Need to Add Outfield Depth After Continue Injury Frustrations

It doesn't have to be a splashy addition, but it should be a player more capable than White when it comes to contributing offensively. The veteran outfielder has had a handful of great moments, but has hovered around the Mendoza line and failed to present a consistent threat at the plate. The Braves need to put themselves in a position to take pressure off not only White but Yastrzemski, who has been offensively inconsistent as well.

The Braves have plenty of potential trade assets with the team's farm system looking far deeper than recent seasons. Spending for a top bat would be fun, but it isn't urgently needed. Reliable depth like the franchise leaned on during their 2021 World Series run should be the goal.

Watching Harris deal with injury while Acuna is already on the shelf and Profar is unable to play due to suspension has added up to make an addition a glaring need. One fans can only hope is answered in the coming weeks of the 2026 season.
