The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is the main attraction for the NFL world this week. Many coaches and general managers are in Indianapolis as they take a deep dive into the long list of draft prospects.
Many players took the podium and spoke to members of the media on Thursday. Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter, who is a Suwanee, Ga, revealed that it would be special if the Falcons selected him. Barrett Carter Would Love to Play for the Atlanta Falcons
While linebacker isn't a huge need for the Falcons, they have Kaden Elliss going into the final year of his deal. They may look to add future options to that room, and Carter would be thrilled to be that guy.
He played his college ball at the University of Clemson and played some outstanding football. Carter finished with 233 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, 33 TFLs, and 21 pass deflections in 52 collegiate games.
Carter is an athletic and instinctive player in both phases of the game. He is able to cover tight ends in the passing attack and uses his eye discipline to sniff out route concepts. The 22-year-old excels at attacking downhill and can be an effective blitzer.
He is the exact type of modern-day linebacker that teams seek to find. Bleacher Report has his draft grade listed as a second-rounder. The Falcons own the No. 35 overall pick, which is relatively high in the second round.
Whether they want to use that remains to be seen, but Carter is making his intentions clear early in the draft process.
The Falcons' offense has a nice collection of playmakers, and it's now about adding difference-makers to the defensive side of the ball. Carter could be one of those additions, but it's still very early in the draft process.
