The Atlanta Falcons' biggest remaining offensive question mark heading into training camp is the receiving position. Drake London is incredibly talented, but not a speed threat, and is the lone established option the Falcons can lean on. With this in mind, it is time to reunite Tyreek Hill and current Atlanta quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a signing that would go a long way in giving the team the needed talent to compete in a wide open NFC South.
For Hill, it seems that what is holding back the receiver from earning a contract is a knee injury that puts his return into question. There are debates about where his speed is going to be when he is back on the field, as well as at what point in the 2026 season the pass catcher might be able to return.
It is a very real concern that the Falcons should ignore, understanding the clear need at the position. The Falcons haven't had a winning season in nearly a decade and aren't going to attract free agents without either overpaying or there being a concern. Hill may have clear concerns but has undeniably elite potential, putting together a great 2024 season and an elite 2023 level of production.
Falcons Shouldn't Hesitate to Take Obvious Risk in Free Agent Receiver Tyreek Hill
There is already a level of established chemistry with Tagovailoa, who many see as the favorite to begin the Atlanta season as the starting quarterback. If Hill were able to return with Tagovailoa as the starting quarterback, you'd have an incredible support system in a strong offensive line, Bijan Robinson, London, Kyle Pitts, Hill, and exciting rookie speedster Zachariah Branch.
If the Falcons are going to compete in the South, it will be due to a strong group of playmakers and Jeff Ulbrich's defense continuing to build on last season's steps forward. No question, Atlanta is one of the best landing spots for Hill, with the receiver being handed a chance to play for his home state and join forces with a familiar quarterback.
Atlanta owes it to a frustrated fanbase to search for every possible upgrade after spending the last nine years mired in endless losing. Hill can likely be signed for cheap based on his long stint in free agency and need to prove himself healthy. It should be welcomed to give the pass catcher this chance and hand yourself an exciting offensive ceiling, giving the roster a chance to answer its current biggest weakness.
