The Atlanta Falcons 20-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was defined by yet another frustrating offensive performance. Atlanta's defense continually gave the team chances to grab control, and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson simply had no answers. It was yet another example of an offense that has put far too much on the plate of Bijan Robinson. When the back was unable to get going, Robinson had no counter. It was a vanilla offense unable to offer any counterpunch when it was clear the 49ers had Robinson's number in the rushing attack.

Atlanta's offensive coordinator simply relied on putting the ball in Bijan's hands, and when that wasn't working, there was a clear inability to get Michael Penix Jr. and the passing attack consistently rolling. Even with Darnell Mooney back in the lineup, the attack was flat and incapable. There simply is no excuse for this lack of preparation when you understand the expectation is that Robert Saleh's defense is going to be hyper-focused on attempting to stop Bijan coming off the best performance of his career.

Falcons Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson Continues to Show Inability to Make Needed Adjustments

It is on the shoulders of Zac Robinson to have a counter to offer when the obvious is taken away. Instead, the offense resorted to back shoulder fades and predictable screens that the defense had little problem eventually shutting down. There was zero rhythm in the attack and very little fear from the 49ers of being beaten over the top. San Francisco remained content to sit at the sticks and attack the line of scrimmage, daring Atlanta's quarterback and offensive attack to beat them.

While a piece of the blame belongs on the shoulders of the quarterback, the biggest issue was a lack of adjustment from the offensive coordinator. This isn't the first time this season that it has been an issue for the Falcons. In the Falcons' 30-0 loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers, the franchise continued to attempt to get Bijan to carry the offense and had no backup plan.

Sunday's loss pushed the Falcons to 3-3 on the year and dropped another potentially important tiebreaker in the wildcard race. It was an important game you would hope your OC had a unique approach for. Instead, Atlanta was left without answers when Bijan was unable to carry them and dropped yet another winnable game.

This is a franchise that could easily be sitting at 4-2 in the NFC South and wildcard races. Instead, there are now questions swirling around Penix and whether or not this offense is broken. This leaves no question that Zac Robinson deserves blame for a vanilla game plan that again has left Atlanta's 2025 ceiling in question.
