It wasn’t exactly a banner weekend for Brian Gregory and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but they are back at it with a home game against the Boston College Eagles on Wednesday night. Tech famously finished a 19-point defeat against Virginia by scoring 1 point in the final 9 minutes, but Boston College is certainly not Virginia, and that brings reason for optimism.
BC is the opposite of the majority of the ACC in that they are able to score freely this season but their defense has been utterly woeful. They rank in the top-50 of the country in offense (113.4 points per 100), but on the defensive end, the Eagles are outside the top-300 (!!) while allowing 112.0 points per 100. Away from home, that problem becomes even more magnified for BC, and that should allow the offense-challenged Jackets to get going early.
Our pals in Vegas have the Yellow Jackets as 4-point favorites in this game, and that is a nice change. KenPom has projected Tech as a 6-point winner in the game, and to be honest, this would probably be the worst loss of the season if Brian Gregory’s club come up on the wrong end of the decision.
