Preseason expectations for the 2014 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team vary wildly, from some pundits casting a huge shadow over what is projected to be a basement-dweller to lofty aspirations as a potential competitor for a high-end bowl berth. However, if there is one constant on the Tech roster for the upcoming season, it is with All-ACC offensive guard Shaquille Mason, and as a result, he has received the honor of being named to the preseason watch list for the 2014 Outland Trophy.

, it is noted that Mason is one of 64 players nationally that were listed, and the Outland Trophy is awarded to the best interior lineman (offense or defense) in America. Earlier in the off-season, Mason was listed as a preseason All-American by CFB expert Phil Steele, and in addition to his first-team All-ACC selection from 2013, the bar has been set quite high by the rising senior.

At 6-foot-1 and more than 310 pounds, Shaquille Mason has proved to be dominant at the point of attack, but in order for Paul Johnson’s offense to fully take shape this season, he will need to be joined by his four counterparts on the offensive line. Stay tuned for all the latest as the college football season approaches in earnest.
