Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics preview: The Green Intrusion

facebooktwitterreddit

Last Saturday, the Atlanta Hawks (9-6) absolutely destroyed the struggling Charlotte Hornets (4-14), and on Tuesday, the team will finish up a four-game home stretch as they host the Boston Celtics (4-10).

In this one, the Hawks will look to get three straight wins for the second time this season and continue the excellent defense the team has shown the past two games. After letting the Toronto Raptors do whatever they wanted last Wednesday, the Hawks have held the Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans to 91 points or less.

Playing the Celtics could be good for Atlanta’s continued defensive work, as the team has dropped four consecutive games and is coming off of a 111-89 blowout courtesy of the San Antonio Spurs.

During that game, Rajon Rondo manages just two points on 1-for-5 shooting, while Jeff Green was the only player who managed more than 12 points. On the season, Green is leading Boston with 17.6 points per game, while power forward Jared Sullinger has arguably been the team’s best player, leading the roster with 20.6 PER.

In addition to thriving defensively, Boston’s poor perimeter defense should let the Hawks excel from 3-point range. The Spurs shot 11-for-26 and on the season during road games, the Celtics are allowing teams to shoot 43 percent from behind the arc.

Have fun, Kyle Korver.
