Georgia Bulldogs vs. Seton Hall Pirates Preview: Back from Hiatus
By Brad Rowland
It has been a long break from the hardwood for Mark Fox and the Georgia Bulldogs, but the hiatus comes to an end on Sunday in Stegeman Coliseum. The team took a “break” for final exams, but in their last match-up, UGA topped a quality team in Colorado by a seven-point margin.
The Dawgs got a bit of positive news earlier in the week, as starting guard Kenny Gaines is expected to play despite a shoulder injury suffered in the aforementioned win over Colorado. This is a huge boost for Georgia, given that Gaines is one of the more proven offensive options (11.3 points per game) on the roster. It will be interesting to see how much he plays given the lengthy time off.
From a match-up perspective, Georgia is considered to be a small favorite, and KenPom leans on the Bulldogs as approximately three points better on Sunday afternoon. Still, Seton Hall is a very worthy opponent, and with a 9-1 start, Kevin Willard’s team is playing very well right now. The Pirates are loaded in the backcourt with the pairing of freshman Isaiah Whitehead and veteran Sterling Gibbs, and the winner of this game will very likely be the team who “wins” on the perimeter throughout the day.
