Report: Dan Quinn to be hired on February 2
By Brad Rowland
One of the worst-kept secrets in Atlanta (or even national) sports at the moment is that the Atlanta Falcons will hire Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as the team’s new head coach following the Super Bowl. However, there is a more concrete timeline being reported as of Sunday.
In the midst of a short piece about the potential hiring of Raheem Morris to the Falcons defensive staff, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution snuck in this nugget about Quinn’s hire date in Atlanta:
"Quinn will coach in the Super Bowl as defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks before being officially named the Falcons head coach on Monday, Feb. 2 in Atlanta. He’s expected to call the defensive plays."
The smoke around the Quinn hiring has been rampant in recent days, with the Falcons set to hire both Kyle Shanahan (as the offensive coordinator) and the aforementioned report of Raheem Morris. Still, it is nice to see a real, live timeline for this move in print, and the Atlanta Falcons are in desperate need of a face to put on this football team.
Stay tuned for the latest on the Atlanta Falcons, but Dan Quinn should be arriving sooner rather than later.
