Atlanta Hawks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves preview: Hello Target Center

facebooktwitterreddit

After  dropping their last game to one of the Western Conferences top teams, the Atlanta Hawks will get a bit of an easier matchup tonight as they take on the 11-40 Minnesota Timberwolves.

Even though they are the worst team in the conference, the Timberwolves have been playing their best basketball of late, which includes a three-game winning streak–their longest of the season.

On top of that, Minnesota is hoping to have Ricky Rubio and Shabazz Muhammad back in action tonight. Muhammad is coming back from a strained oblique that has put him out the past 16 games. Rubio is still recovering from a left ankle injury that has put him out for most of the season, but before sitting out in Sunday’s win over the Detroit Pistons, he played in three games.

In that game against the Pistons, Minnesota shot 51.3 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from the 3-point line and out-rebounded Detroit 40-35.

Poor shooting games from Paul Millsap and Al Horford hurt the Hawks in their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday, as well as the ridiculous rebounding difference. Memphis hauled in 55 boards, while the Hawks managed just 37.
