Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina preview: Upset-minded in Chapel Hill
By Brad Rowland
Momentum is a curious thing, but the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets might have some for the first time in a while. Brian Gregory’s club claimed a double-digit victory over the Clemson Tigers in their last trip to the hardwood, and while that win came in the friendly confines of McCamish Pavilion, the venue won’t be quite as kind on Saturday afternoon. This time, the Ramblin’ Wreck travel to Chapel Hill to face a frustrated and wounded North Carolina Tar Heels club.
Roy Williams and his team let one get away on Wednesday, as UNC blew a significant second half advantage in dropping a heart-breaker to Duke in overtime. Still, the Tar Heels are 18-8 overall with an 8-5 mark in ACC play this season, and that is the recipe for a top-20 ranking and a big-time perceived cushion over Georgia Tech.

Our pals at KenPom have installed North Carolina as an 11-point favorite in their home building, and it will be a tall task for Georgia Tech to emerge victorious without the recently suspended Chris Bolden. Frankly, putting together a competitive effort for 40 minutes would be a win for the Jackets in this spot, especially with the Heels coming to visit Atlanta in less than two weeks.
