Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns: TV, Streaming, and More

The Atlanta Hawks continue their western road trip tomorrow night, taking on the Phoenix Suns, and hoping to get back on track after recent struggles.

It was no shock that the Atlanta Hawks recently lost to the Philadelphia 76ers. After all, they played that game resting stalwart starters Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver, and DeMarre Carroll. You take those players off the floor and you immediately lose toughness, defense, and a bunch of points!

More from Atlanta Hawks

After that loss, the Atlanta Hawks quickly showed the Sacramento Kings what they tend to do when their not resting anyone, with a season high 130 points and a whopping 20 successful 3-pointers.

If you base the Hawks most recent loss on history alone, it was no surprise either.

The Hawks seem to have always struggled in Denver against the Nuggets, but as good as this team is, it was still a bit of a shock to lose that game by 13 points (102-115), and the biggest shock was seeing so many starters struggle.

While Kyle Korver had a great game against the Nuggets, the rest of the team were as cold as a lamb sandwich, and fell too far behind to get a win even with a last minute surge.

Every team, no matter how good, has those hiccups in a season, especially as you draw so near to the end of the season. Players are tired, wore out, dinged up, and hey, stuff happens. Be that as it may though, the Hawks need to take care of business and get the win on the road against the Phoenix Suns.

To do that, they’ll need to do at least three things.

  • First, the Hawks will need to forget that like their history with the Denver Nuggets, their history with the Phoenix Suns leaves a little to be desired as well! All-time, the Suns have a 69-49 record against the Atlanta Hawks, and have dominated the Hawks in the last 20+ years.

Secondly, the Hawks will need to contain a some key players and upstarts on this Phoenix team.

Rookie T.J. Warren was red-hot in the Suns victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves last Wednesday, putting up 17 points (season high for him). Warren will be pumped after that performance, especially facing one of only two teams in the NBA with 50 or more wins.

Atlanta will also need to keep a close eye on Markieff Morris who had 24 points against Minnesota, and Eric Bledsoe, who added 18 in that game along with with a barrage of assists.

It will be vital for Atlanta to guard the paint against both Warren (small forward) and Morris (power forward), and to know what flavor of gum [Hoosiers reference] Eric Bledsoe is by the end of the 4th.

Finally, although contributions from every player on this Atlanta squad is important, it’s vital that Kyle Korver stay on track, and that the rest of this Hawks team step it up after a disappointing game against the Nuggets.

Korver had 18 in that game, but the rest will need to erase the memory of their performance.

I’m not nearly as superstitious as when I played baseball, but the Atlanta Hawks will be playing that game on the dreaded Friday the 13th! (insert shreiking noise) Let’s just hope it won’t be another dark and scary day in Phoenix for our Hawks.
