Coach Bud guided the Atlanta Hawks to a franchise record 60 wins this season and a top seed in the Eastern Conference. His pace-and-space, defensive minded coaching style was heavily influenced by his seventeen years in San Antonio learning under HC Gregg Popovich. This team-first philosophy has taken the Hawks to new heights this season as Atlanta embarks on a serious playoff run of their own. There was serious competition for this award as Golden State’s Steve Kerr, Boston’s Brad Stevens, and Milwaukee’s Jason Kidd all had outstanding regular seasons and look to make their mark in this year’s playoffs.
Bud’s team leads the number eight seeded Brooklyn Nets 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Atlanta will face off with the Nets once again at Philips Arena Wednesday night in Game Two. Congratulations, Coach Bud!
