Poor Shooting Costs Hawks Game 3

Nothing was falling for the Hawks in Game Three of their opening round series with the Brooklyn Nets, as Atlanta loses to Brooklyn 91-83 Saturday afternoon.  While the defense kept the Hawks in the game, Atlanta struggled mightily with lay-ups and from beyond the arch.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Kyle Korver failed to connect on a single three-point field goal.  Al Horford moved sluggishly throughout most of the contest. Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll did their best to keep the Atlanta Hawks’ offense afloat but it was not enough to defeat an inspired Brooklyn Nets team.

The starting five for Brooklyn, outside of PG Deron Williams, all played their A game to defeat the East’s top seed at home.  Bojan Bogdanovic was the first Net to go off, scoring nearly double digits in the opening quarter.  Thaddeus Young was the difference for the Nets offensively in the second half, anchoring an 18-0 to begin the fourth quarter. Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson continued their impressive series throughout Game Three.

Positives to take away from Atlanta’s loss include the 22 point performance orchestrated by DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap’s persistent effort on both ends of the floor, and Jeff Teague’s commitment to excellence defensively tonight.  Neither Brooklyn PG could put the ball in the hoop.

I highly doubt Atlanta will shoot 35.6% from the field on Monday night in Game Four.  But I’ll give credit where it’s due as Brooklyn played a complete basketball game.

Atlanta will take on Brooklyn in Game Four Monday night at a TBA. We should expect a more well-round performance from the Atlanta Hawks since this upcoming will not take place in the middle of the afternoon.
