Mike Scott Needs to Step Up in Game Four

When the Atlanta Hawks take on the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow night for Game Four, somebody needs to step up from the Hawks bench.  That guy is the Regional Manager, the Emoji Man, the great forward Mike Scott.

The Mike Scott Game during last year’s first round affair with the Indiana Pacers played a big part in forcing the series to a seventh game.  Atlanta was able to steal Game Five from the Pacers with a blistering hot seventeen point second quarter from Great Scott!

But since a toe injury suffered at Denver on March 11th, Mike Scott has not been his microwave self.  As part of the playoff rotation for the Atlanta Hawks, Scott has struggled with his shot, shooting 6-16 from the field and 1-6 from three-point range.

So why am I getting on a bench player who still isn’t 100% healthy coming back from an injury?  I just believe that if Mike Scott is able to connect on just two threes in Game Four, Brooklyn will completely fall apart defensively.  Atlanta needs just one more perimeter threat to come alive to cut down the Nets.

While Pero Antic has played exceptionally well at backup center for the Hawks in the first three games of the series, Scott’s sweet stroke from three could be the straw that broke the camel’s back.  (I immediately thought of Brook Lopez when typing camel just then.)  Having just one more stretch four/five shoot above 25% from three will be too much for Lopez and PF/C Mason Plumlee to handle.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Brooklyn is a talented offensive team under Lionel Hollins.  After Game Three, we can’t deny that anymore.  Joe Johnson can still play at high level and the former Yellow Jackets Jarrett Jack and Thaddeus Young have swarmed in the paint.

Expect Coach Bud to have Atlanta playing inspired basketball in Game Four tomorrow night when the Hawks take on the Nets once again from the Barclays Center.  Tip Off is at 7PM ET.  Let’s Go Hawks!
