The Atlanta Hawks will play the Washington Wizards in the Eastern Conference Semifinals starting on Sunday, May 3rd at 1:00. It will be the 5th time (first since 1979) the two franchises have met in the playoffs – Washington is 3-1 in those playoff match-ups. The Hawks were 3-1 vs. the Wizards in the regular season, with the loss coming during the final week when Coach Budenholzer rested all five starters.
Odds: With the regular season dominance over Washington, and winning 14 more games overall, Atlanta is a five point favorite in Game 1 at home.
The Hawks remain as the second best odds to win the East at 16/5, while the Cavaliers are at 5/8. The Wizards are last at 8/1.

Atlanta has stayed in 4th for best odds to win the NBA Title (12/1), however, they’ve been leapfrogged by the Bulls who are now at 19/2. The San Antonio Spurs were ahead of the Hawks, but are now tied; they play the Clippers on Saturday night in a Game 7 winner-take-all.

Trying to figure out how the NBA schedules playoff games is like trying to solve a complex math equation, so I have no clue why Game 7 would not be played on a Sunday….but it is what the NBA says it is.
