Kyle Korver Out For Remainder of Playoffs

Shoot.  Well, when it rains it pours.  Atlanta Hawks sharpshooting SG Kyle Korver will be out for the remainder of the Playoffs with a severe high ankle sprain that might require surgery.  Like Atlanta needed another reason to feel worse about last night’s Game 2 performance.  Our wing depth has been completely decimated.

More from Atlanta Hawks

First it was Thabo Sefolosha.  All he wanted to do was celebrate with Pero Antic in NYC after clinching a franchise record 58th win.  Instead New York City cops literally broke his ankle for obstruction of justice in the Chris Copeland night club incident.  The YouTube video that went viral didn’t look like Sefolosha was doing anything wrong.  Typical Atlanta luck.

DeMarre Carroll lived to fight another day after a for sure torn ACL in Game 1 with Cleveland.  It was beyond miraculous that the Junkyard Dog played as much as he did in Game 2.  And now Kyle Korver whose length out on the perimeter was so vital to the Hawks’ wing defense will not play again in 2015.  It feels like some cruel child has just ripped both of our wings off and wants us to fly out of a second-story window.  On top of that, we have to guard LeBron James.  Why is our season unraveling like this in the Eastern Finals?

So does Kent Bazemore start at 2 for the Hawks in Game 3 now?  Or is it Shelvin Mack?  John Jenkins?  Or is Coach Bud just going to play Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder together as the new starting backcourt for Atlanta?  It will be interesting to see the necessary adjustments Mike Budenholzer has to make to at least steal a game in Cleveland and force a Game 5 at home.

This really stinks.  But I’m NOT abandoning ship.  This Atlanta Hawks team has played so hard for us all season long and we still need to support our team during the darkest period of their season.  Forever True To Atlanta.  Let’s Go Hawks!
