Hawks’ Season Ends, Clobbered in Game 4 118-88

This one really hurt.  The magical season comes to an end as our Atlanta Hawks get blown out in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, 118-88.  Tonight’s game was almost unwatchable as Cleveland annihilated Atlanta in a laugher in their series sweep of the Hawks.

More from Atlanta Hawks

I think there was absolutely nothing left in the tank for the Hawks after the heartbreaker in Game 3.  Cleveland completely controlled the game and will await the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.

The Hawks shot a dismal 5-32 from 3-point range tonight.  15.6% from three and 61.1% from the line doesn’t cut it in an elimination game.  Cleveland sank 13 threes tonight in the blowout.

I’m not deflated with this series sweep.  Cleveland played great basketball for the entirety of the series.  LeBron James will play in the NBA Finals for the fifth season in a row.  Think about that.  James is the King of the Eastern Conference.  He may not have won the MVP this year but he is still the best basketball player on Planet Earth.  Atlanta now joins Indiana, Chicago, and Boston as Eastern Conference Runner Ups in recent seasons.  We’re not alone.  Nobody beats LeBron in the East.

I still can’t get my head around that this Hawks team will not play another game.  It’s been an emotional season for all of us.  As amazing as the 19-game winning streak was in the middle of winter, this sweep will sting for the rest of the summer.  We were all waiting for the typical Atlanta collapse and man, was it brutal.  What else can I say, the experience of being an Atlanta sports fan is like no other.  We always find a new way to end up heartbroken.

I’m still so proud of this Atlanta Hawks team with all they accomplished this year.  60 wins, 4 All-Stars, Coach of the Year, making it to the Eastern Conference Finals.  I’ll have a wonderful piece about the 2014-15 Atlanta Hawks up in the morning.  But right now, all I want is some Chick-Fil-A.  But they’re closed…
