The #14 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets failed their first real test of the season on Saturday against the #8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a 30-22 loss on the road.

The normally prolific Jackets’ offense fell flat for nearly the entire game — it’s only saving grace being a last minute comeback that injected some late game drama into the contest. QB Justin Thomas did not play very well, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense was never able to gain any traction.

More from Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Ted Roof’s defense cannot really be faulted for giving up 30 points on the road to Notre Dame. They kept the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the game until the 4th quarter, training only 13-6.

Harrison Butker missed two key field goals in the first half, which would have given the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at least a tie going into the 3rd quarter. This contest should be viewed as a growth game for the Ramblin’ Wreck. Against a tough team on the road and a talented defense, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets must learn from this game as their schedule continues to get more difficult in the coming weeks.
