The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head to Durham, North Carolina to face divisional rival Duke in an important ACC Coastal matchup early in the season.

The Jackets lost last week to then #8 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana by a score of 30-22, falling from #14 to #20 in this week’s AP Poll. At 2-1, the Jackets’ hope of a berth to the College Football Playoff may be a pipe dream, but their aspirations for an ACC Championship are still alive and well. The first step to a second consecutive ACC Coastal Division Championship comes this week against the Blue Devils.

Last week, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were only able to score 1 touchdown before a last minute rally almost gave them a chance to tie. The offense fell flat and was largely inneffective: never being able to gain traction in their rushing attack. QB Justin Thomas had a lackluster game — and if not for two last minute TD passes to B-back Patrick Skov, would have finished the game with an even worse stat line.

The defense played well all things considered, keeping the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the game until the fourth quarter. The Jackets were only down 13-6 going into the 4th — the difference being a pair of missed Harrison Butker field goal attempts. Facing a good quarterback this week in Thomas Sirk, the Georgia Tech defense will once again have to be on their toes.

The Blue Devils lost last week at home to #19 Northwestern, and will no doubt be looking to rebound at Wallace Wade Stadium against the Ramblin’ Wreck on Saturday. Here are five Georgia Tech players to watch this Saturday against Duke.
