I did not think the Florida Gators would destroy the #3 Ole Miss Rebels last Saturday, clobbering them 38-10 in the Swamp. Jim McElwain has done marvelous work to get his Gators to 5-0 and #11 in the country. This was an 8-4 team to begin the year. Now they could become an 11-1 team playing for an SEC Championship in Atlanta.
The defense has looked terrific and the offense is getting there for the Gators. I’d be shocked if they’re not ranked at the end of the year. The problem with Florida lies in the schedule. They’ve got Mizzou, LSU, and UGA close out their October part of their schedule.
Florida could go 1-2 in that stretch. However, if they get into November 8-0, then we will have to consider the Florida Gators as a strong candidate for the 2nd Annual College Football Playoff. The Gators travel to the Show Me State to face Mizzou this weekend. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM ET on the SEC Network.
