Nick Chubb Exits UT Game With Knee Injury

Nick Chubb suffered a brutal knee injury on the first play from scrimmage in the Georgia Bulldogs’ SEC road game with the Tennessee Volunteers.

The worst thing possible happened on the first play from scrimmage in the Georgia Bulldogs’ SEC road game with the Tennessee Volunteers: Nick Chubb leaves the game after a devastating knee injury.

This is at least the third time the turf at Neyland Stadium has won against an SEC East tailback. South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore, UGA’s Keith Marshall, and now UGA’s Nick Chubb. It’s clumpy before the game even starts. This has to stop.

I joked about this ad nauseam all offseason about how knee injuries are synonymous with the turf at Neyland Stadium. A third time in four years cannot be considered coincidental anymore.

Nick Chubb’s consecutive 100 yard rushing performances will tragically come to an end on October 10th, 2015. From the looks of the hit near the sidelines, Nick Chubb either grossly hyper-extended his knee or he tore his ACL.

Dawg Nation and possibly the College Football World is praying for Chubb and his family that it is the former and not the latter of these injuries. Georgia will have to carry on without Nick Chubb for at the very best the rest of the game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

UGA will have to rely on sophomore Sony Michel, senior Keith Marshall, and junior Brendan Douglas to carry the rock for the Dawgs in this game. This feels worse than Keith Marshall’s, Todd Gurley‘s, and Aaron Murray‘s ACL tears combined in the last two years.

Is this more of a criticism on the UGA strength and conditioning program or is it the grounds crew in Knoxville? Remembering USC’s Marcus Lattimore in 2012 and Keith Marshall’s in 2013, I don’t think it’s safe to play in Neyland anymore. Am I out of line? This is horrible. Go Dawgs!
