The Atlanta Hawks begin their most anticipated regular season in recent history on Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena.

With the preseason now over, the Atlanta Hawks roster is finalized. Lamar Patterson was the final addition to the roster, securing the 15th and final roster spot. After ascending to the top seed in the Eastern Conference last season with a 60-22 record and having 4 players represent the Eastern Conference in the 2015 All-Star Game, the 2015-2016 begins with heightened expectations for Mike Budenholzer’s club.

The Eastern Conference as a whole has improved during the offseason, leading many pundits to believe that the Atlanta Hawks will take a step back following the loss of SF DeMarre Carroll in free agency to the Toronto Raptors this offseason. With the rise of teams like the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics, the East certainly looks more formidable than it did in years past.

More from Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks countered the loss of DeMarre Carroll by going bigger, adding veteran center Tiago Splitter in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs. The Hawks also added depth at the wing, trading for third year player Tim Hardaway, Jr. on draft night and signing former Golden State Warrior Justin Holiday to a multi-year deal. These new additions have changed the composition of the Atlanta Hawks, and it is still uncertain of the impact they will have on the team this coming season.

As the season commences, the Atlanta Hawks look to exceed expectations once again and place themselves firmly in contention for an Eastern Conference crown. With the additions the team has made and a better Eastern Conference, 2015-2016 is shaping up as an exciting year. Here is the ATL All Day season preview of the Atlanta Hawks.
