After surpassing expectations last year and ascending to the top of the Eastern Conference with 60 wins during the regular season, the Atlanta Hawks entered the 2015-2016 campaign hoping to surpass last season’s benchmarks. So far at 3-1, the Atlanta Hawks do not look as efficient as they did last season, and at times have struggled to replicate last season’s success on the court. Of course, we’re only 4 games into the season, so it’s a very small sample size.

The departure of swingman DeMarre Carroll was speculated to have a profound effect on the Atlanta Hawks this season, as the loss of his defensive prowess and three-point shooting ability would become a detriment to the Hawks’ offense. The addition of new players acquired this offseason such as Tiago Splitter, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Justin Holiday added much needed depth on the roster, but have yet to truly make an impact.

Though the Atlanta Hawks are 3-1 one week into the season, the returns throughout the first 4 games are somewhat lackluster, as the team has yet to truly coalesce into the squad they were a year ago. Given what we’ve seen throughout the past week, here are 4 observations from the first four games of the Atlanta Hawks 2015-2016 season.
