The Atlanta Hawks have lost their last two games away from Philips Arena. Can they get back in the win column when they face the Brooklyn Nets at home on Saturday?

The Atlanta Hawks lost a tough game in overtime to the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night, 108-101. While it was definitely a better performance than what the team displayed in Charlotte on Wednesday night, falling 107-84 to the Hornets, the Atlanta Hawks look to end their two-game losing streak when they play the struggling Brooklyn Nets at home on Saturday night.

The Atlanta Hawks will play the Brooklyn Nets at Philips Arena on Saturday night. Tipoff is at 7:30 PM ET and the game will air on Fox Sports Southeast. Atlanta is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 23-17 record. Brooklyn has fallen on very hard times and are in 14th place with a 11-29 record on the year. Only the 4-37 Philadelphia 76ers are worse in the East.

After playing each other in the first round on the 2015 Eastern Conference Playoffs, Atlanta and Brooklyn have split their season series so far with a game apiece. The Atlanta Hawks won at home on November 4th, 101-87, while Brooklyn knocked off the Hawks at the Barclays Center, 90-88 on November 17th.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Since last playing the Nets, the Brooklyn front office has endured a real shakeup. Lionel Hollins is no longer the team’s head coach, lasting only a season and a half on the sidelines. Former general manager Billy King has graciously been demoted after some of his mind-boggling trades over the last few seasons to put the Nets in such disarray.

While the Atlanta Hawks are in nowhere near as bad of shape as the Brooklyn Nets are, this year’s Hawks team is becoming more frustrating by the game, as we never know what type of team will show up every night. Yes, we know that Paul Millsap will play at an elite level every time he takes the court, but the inconsistent nature of this club could ultimately prevent it from making a deep playoff run in 2016.

In essence, the Atlanta Hawks have to beat the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, as that would stand as three straight losses to teams that the Hawks are conceivably better than. Teams go on losing streaks, but they often come against superior competition. Atlanta needs to end this slide and get back into the win column with a convincing home victory at Philips Arena Saturday night. Let’s Go Hawks!
