The Georgia Bulldogs managed to win their first road game of the 2015-16 NCAA season by defeating the Missouri Tigers, 60-57 Wednesday night in Columbia.

It wasn’t easy, but the 2015-16 Georgia Bulldogs Men’s Basketball Team finally won their first game away from Stegeman Coliseum this year by knocking off the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Missouri Wednesday night, 60-57.

Wednesday night’s victory over the Tigers marks the second time this season the Dawgs beat Mizzou. This win gets the Georgia Bulldogs back to .500 in SEC play at 3-3 and allows the team to move to 10-6 on the year.

For the third consecutive game, the Georgia Bulldogs had a season-low in first half points, as the Dawgs tied the Tigers at 22 apiece entering halftime. It looked like the offensive struggles from the team’s embarrassing home loss to now No. 10 Texas A&M, 79-45, were going to continue again Wednesday night.

Then Georgia came out of halftime and put up 24 points in less than seven minutes to build a significant lead over the Tigers to take back control of the game. Turnovers late in the game and questionable decisions to foul allowed Missouri to crawl back in this game, but UGA’s 16-point lead was too large of a deficit for the Tigers to overcome.

While the Dawgs didn’t shoot the basketball particularly well from the field Wednesday night (24-61 shooting, 39.3%), the team did limit Mizzou to only 35.8% shooting from the field (19-53) and clobbered them on the glass, 43-32.

The Georgia Bulldogs had three players score in double figures against Missouri. Sophomore sensation power forward Yante Maten had 21 points on 10-21 shooting, 12 rebounds, and a staggering six blocks in his third double-double of the 2015-16 NCAA campaign.

Junior guard J.J. Frazier was the go-to scorer for the Georgia Bulldogs down the stretch. He had 16 points on 5-9 shooting, including four clutch free throws to seal the deal against Mizzou. Frazier also had seven assists, six rebounds, and a steal against the Tigers. Kenny Gaines also had 11 points of offense for the Dawgs.

While it wasn’t a strong finish to the game in the slightest, the Georgia Bulldogs did get both their 10th victory on the year and their first away from Athens, Georgia this season. The Dawgs will have a few days off before their next game, a Saturday evening home game against the always tough Arkansas Razorbacks.
