Atlanta United FC unveiled  its home kit Tuesday night at the Tabernacle in Atlanta in which the event broke a record for kit sales by an MLS expansion club.

Atlanta United FC unveiled its home kit on Tuesday night, streaming the event live on both Facebook and YouTube. The team’s goal was to create a kit that would set them apart from other teams in the league and possess a style unique to Atlanta. Atlanta United FC accomplished that with their first home uniform containing a primary jersey being only the second in MLS with traditional stripes.

The v-neck shirt contains five vertical red and black stripes with gold numbers and lettering, and will be worn with black shorts and black socks. The club’s first Homegrown player, 16-year-old Andrew Carleton, was one of the featured players to model the kit on Tuesday evening.

Atlanta United team owner Arthur Blank and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed were both present for the event. Atlanta United Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra, Coach Tata Martino, and the mayor all spoke to the crowd. Representatives from American Family Insurance, whose logo is displayed on the uniform, were also in attendance. Atlanta sports stars such as the Atlanta Hawks’ Dwight Howard and Atlanta Falcons’ Vic Beasley both expressed their excitement by video for the release of the team’s kit and the upcoming inaugural 2017 season.
