  1. Matt Ryan

The season Matt Ryan has had is one of the best any quarterback has put up in recent memory. It is comparable to the amazing season that Peyton Manning had in 2013 with the Denver Broncos when he went on to win the MVP. Ryan has been quietly great all season long picking apart the secondary of opposing teams putting together a great season and establishing two new NFL records.

He has the longest streak of consecutive 200 yard passing games all time and has thrown touchdown passes to 13 different targets, an NFL record as well. He piled up nearly 5,000 throwing yards threw for 38 touchdowns and limited turnovers throwing only 7 picks all season. The level that Ryan has elevated his gameplay this season is impressive and deserves not only consideration in the MVP race but to have his name announced as the 2016 MVP.  That is not to say that it will happen however, as Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady have far easier paths because of the fact they are household names and much more intriguing to talk about.

Regardless as to whether or not he wins the award Ryan’s biggest accomplishment this season is putting his team back in contention and carrying them to a playoff berth. Without Matt Ryan this season the Falcons are a seven to eight win team at best, with Ryan they have a chance to win against any team in the playoffs and will get to host at least one playoff game at the Georgia Dome.

Matt Ryan has solidified himself as the Atlanta Falcon’s franchise quarterback this season and their best player. He will cement himself further if he can overcome the playoff struggles that have haunted him earlier in his career and win at least a round in this year’s playoffs.
