The Atlanta Hawks are struggling to say the least dropping their 5th straight game after controlling it for much of three quarters. The team is going to have to get it together quickly if they hope to have any playoff chance.

Losing in the fashion that the Hawks did last night on a national TV broadcast is indicative of how the last two weeks have gone for the Hawks. After controlling the game for the better part of it late turnovers and inability to score put Washington back in control of what would be a 104-100 defeat of the Hawks.

Five losses in a row now that the Hawks have strung together, you have to admire their consistency of being inconsistent.  All season long they have appeared to be a team just on the edge of challenging the better teams in the East only to go into a losing streak often against teams they should easily beat.

It is fair to note that Kent Bazemore and Paul Millsap are both injured forcing the Hawks to go to their bench more often. The bench doesn’t seem to be the problem with the bench keeping the Hawks in the game and the team often falling out of it with the starters on the floor.

Turnovers have been one of the biggest issues with Dennis Schroder at the heart of the problem last night turning the ball over a season high ten times. Suffice to say it wasn’t a good night for the Hawks young point man and an example of his inconsistencies all season long.

Dennis is a good player but one who is struggling with turnovers and is going to have to learn to play at a higher level quickly if the Hawks want a chance in the playoffs. With Paul Millsap expected back soon the Hawks will look to right the ship as they head into the final eleven games of the season.
