The 2017 Atlanta Braves are just a few days away from starting the season, and three local Atlanta boys will represent their hometown team.

3. 2nd Base- Brandon Phillips (Stone Mountain)

The newest addition to the Braves’ “ATL Club” is 2nd Baseman Brandon Phillips. His story is a little different than that of Swanson or Flowers. Phillips was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. But his family moved to Georgia early, and he played his High School ball at Redan High School in Stone Mountain. He was drafted by the Montreal Expos (remember them?) in 1999. Phillips had stints with Cleveland and Cincinnati, respectively.

That stuff you can find anywhere, if you research. But only folks who know baseball know that Brandon Phillips is a ball player. He is tenacious, unyielding, and aggressive. He’s a 3 time All-Star, has 4 Gold Gloves, and is a member of the 30-30 club. And now he has come home. This Redan Raider will help the Braves in 2017.

In fact, all of these gentlemen from Atlanta will help their hometown team in 2017. That hometown flavor is just another reason to pay attention to our Atlanta Braves this year.
