Georgia Football: SEC East Put On Notice With UGA Domination Of Florida
By W. M. Lawson
The Georgia Bulldogs (8-0) embarrassed the Florida Gators Saturday in Jacksonville. It was the latest message sent to the rest of the SEC East Division.
A buddy of mine (Tennessee fan) called last night to talk about the coming coaching carousel. During this conversation he paused and said, “Man, I didn’t see the UGA/Florida game, but I’m seeing highlights. Y’all embarrassed them. Who is that with spiked shoulder pads on everybody’s shoulders? It looks like a rave.” He isn’t the only one to notice what the Georgia Bulldogs have done this year.
There was 7:32 left to go in the 1st quarter of this year’s World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and the game was over. The coaches knew it. The players knew it. The fans knew it. The announcers knew it.

In an utter dismantling, Georgia scored touchdowns on their first three possessions. But it wasn’t just that. it was how they did it that is emblematic of this year for the Dawgs. A 40+ yard swing pass to Swift leads to a 6 yard TD run by Chubb. Fromm, the QB who can only throw easy slant passes, threw a beautiful out to the corner of the end zone and Wims “high-pointed” it. Finally, Michel rips a 74 yard TD run from the first play of scrimmage in the third possession. In between, the Defense put Florida in two “3 and outs” and an INT.
Utter domination. A 42-7 nationally televised beat-down. An embarrassing moment for the Florida program, players, and fans. It’s what Florida used to do to Georgia. Not anymore.
41, 45, 53, and 42. Those are the points, respectively, the Georgia Bulldogs have put on the board against their SEC East foes played this year. And “traditional” powerhouses Tennessee and Florida are two of them, with South Carolina and Kentucky remaining.
0, 14, 28, and 7. Those are the points that the Georgia Bulldogs Defense has allowed in those same games. It’s not just that UGA is (8-0) and (5-0) in the SEC (31-3 over Miss St), it’s how they’ve done it.
Jake Fromm, True freshman QB, threw the ball seven times Saturday. SEVEN. And the team scored 42 points.
Yes. The SEC East is, possibly, historically low. And, yes, UGA is taking advantage of it. But that’s what good teams do, and I would wager nobody saw this coming in Kirby Smart’s 2nd year. Opposing coaches and players are acting like they didn’t know.
The SEC East has been placed on notice. This isn’t an aberration. This the beginning of a new “process” in Athens. With rumors of coaching changes in Knoxville and Gainesville, it puts an urgency on administrations to do it and get it right.

They better get it right, because Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs are showing their hand for the next few years, and it’s a full house of effort, focus, talent, and terror.
