Atlanta Braves: Players They Should Trade For
By Kit Anderson
5. Help a Division Rival Cut Salary and Solidify the Bullpen with Brad Ziegler
The Atlanta Braves bullpen and pitching rotation are both bad there is no other way to look at it. Sure, there are a few options in the current bullpen as is but if the Braves do nothing to address the pen the team will not contend in 2018.
That will not be the case however, the front office will get deals done to solidify the pen and help make sure that when the starters give a lead to the pen it isn’t surrendered as easily as it was during the 2017 season.
Adding Brad Ziegler as a closer or a late inning option would be a great move for the Braves and help out a division rival making them worse and take away payroll. Ziegler is a serviceable late inning relief option that is being slightly overpaid and because of that should be an easy trade target for any team that wants to go after him.
The Braves could put Ziegler as their 8th or 9th inning option with the bullpen as is and it would drastically change their bullpen makeup telling you how badly the Braves need relievers. Ziegler will almost certainly be dealt for little return, but as with Prado will the Marlins deal to a division rival?
