The Atlanta Braves are set for an important home schedule slate with a chance to claim first place in the National League East.

Atlanta is getting ready for a two-game series against the New York Mets followed by a long series against the San Diego Padres.  The Braves are currently in a two-way tie for first place in the National League East.

While Atlanta is playing the Mets the Nationals will be playing the other team from New York. The Yankees roster is stacked and should offer them a chance to claim back first place. in the division

After struggling on the road and losing back-to-back series the team needs a win not only to claim first place but to calm the fan-base.

Back-to-back series losses hurt Atlanta in the standings and have worried a fan base who has bought into their team being contenders.

They need a winning homestand to help recapture the division lead and calm the fanbase. Watching the Braves struggle offensively has been especially frustrating.

Ender Inciarte’s .240 average is the best example of the Braves struggling offense. Inciarte and the complete lineup must start producing at the level they were when they led the National League in runs scored early on in the season.

The Mets series will be a quick two-game set with one tonight at 7:35 PM EST and the second slated for 12:10 PM EST.

The second series the Braves will face the Padres starting on Thursday. Both teams the Braves are facing are bad teams who the Braves should be able to pile up wins against.

Beating the losing teams in the League is what contenders must do. Winning these series and staying in a tight race with the Nationals will be huge for the team as we are getting ever closer to the halfway point of the season.
