The Atlanta Falcons are just a few years removed from playing in the Super Bowl, but the team constructed today feels miles away from getting back to that game. After a disappointing season, this team is going to need some help to return if they want to return to one of the elite teams of the NFL.

Atlanta, luckily, is in the position where they don’t need to be perfect but need to make good, prudent moves to improve. The part that needs to be addressed first is the offensive and defensive line. Weak line play was the biggest problem for the Falcons last season.

By placing the franchise tag on Grady Jarrett yesterday, the Falcons shored up a vital piece of the team but hamstrung the team into getting a long-term deal done with Jarrett sooner than later.

If the Falcons can get a deal with Jarrett, and if the team makes more cuts, then the Falcons may have some money to bring in a free agent.
