The Atlanta Falcons’ season will begin with a pair of difficult matchups. The 2025 campaign will begin when the Falcons host the four-time defending NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 7 and continue when they travel to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football the following week.
With Justin Jefferson and one of the league’s best defenses waiting for them, the trip to Minnesota will be more than just a getaway up north. But it also could lead to a former Falcons’ revenge game after some news dropped on Tuesday afternoon.
The NFL has announced WR Jordan Addison has been suspended without pay for the first three games of the 2025 regular season for violating the NFL’s Substances of Abuse Policy.

Jordan Addison’s Suspension Could Help Rondale Moore Torch the Falcons
The NFL announced on Wednesday that Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been suspended for three games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The suspension stems from a July 2024 DUI arrest in California which Addison pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. But the plea allowed the NFL to hand down the suspension, which gives the Bears a big lift for their season opener.
Addison has become a top target for the Vikings since he was selected in the first round of the 2023 draft. He ranks fifth in receptions (133), third in receiving yards (1,786) and first in receiving touchdowns (19) among receivers taken in that draft class and is a big blow for the Minnesota offense. But his absence creates an opportunity for those further down the depth chart including former Falcons receiver Rondale Moore.
If you don’t remember Moore’s tenure in Atlanta, you probably missed it. Moore spent the first three seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals before he was traded in exchange for quarterback Desmond Ridder in March 2024. A dynamic weapon that has a riddled injury history, Moore hit the shelf again after suffering a season-ending knee injury in training camp and he signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Vikings last spring.
Like most situations, Moore’s opportunity creates the chance for a revenge game on national television. But he’ll have to make the roster in order for that to happen. Moore is currently working with the second string in training camp and is likely battling with Lucky Jackson and rookie receiver Silas Bolden for a roster spot.
While the 25-year-old could be used in a variety of ways, his path to torching the Falcons may be limited to a big play downfield or a play on special teams. But the chances are greater now that Addison won’t be playing in Week 2, giving Moore the chance to haunt his former team.
