The Atlanta Falcons went 8-9 in the first season under Raheem Morris. The roster needs to get better at some areas, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively, they have a nice core of playmakers that include Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Michael Penix Jr., and Kyle Pitts.

With the offseason about to kick into another gear, speculation has started flying out. Members of the national media have begun giving their opinions on what moves teams should make.

In an episode of “NFL Draft with Josh & Hayden,” NFL analysts Josh Norris and Hayden Winks suggested that the Falcons trade Pitts to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick (No. 145).

Falcons News: Kyle Pitts Gets Shipped Out in Projected Trade

While it's not a shocker to say that Pitts has been a disappointment over his four-year career with Atlanta, this projected trade would be a massive loss for the Falcons.

Norris explained why he thinks Atlanta would do this deal and said, "A few ways to look at this. One, the Falcons only have four picks this year. They actually forfeited their fifth-rounder due to the Kirk Cousins tampering, so this would replace that pick.”

It's great to get more draft assets, but this wouldn't be the best way to do so. Pitts is still just 24 years old and has all the physical tools teams look for in an athletic pass-catching tight end.

In 61 games with the Falcons, Pitts has logged 196 receptions for 2,651 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He started his NFL career with a 1,000 yard campaign but has failed to more than 667 yards in a season since.

His lackluster production had to do with shaky quarterback play, but with Penix Jr. now under center, there could be another level that Pitts could tap into.

Getting a fifth-round pick in return for a player that was selected with the fourth overall pick isn't ideal.

Most Falcons fans would be upset with this kind of return but Pitts' underwhelming play has opened up the door for these conversations.
