The headline this week for theAtlanta Falcons is obviouslyDrake London and Bijan Robinson both voicing clear frustration on the sideline. Considering how awful the Falcons were at the quarterback position it is impossible to fault the playmakers for being unable to hide their disgust. As a reminder, this is a duo that has dealt with inferior quarterback play for their entire careers and have continually been team players and shown support. Starting Cooper Rush after Week 1 was a new low, and even the Falcons' star players couldn't hide this fact.
Rush turned the ball over continually and was unable to complete simple throws, making it clear it was time to turn the page. This led to putting in undrafted rookie Jack Strand when the game was already out of hand, and the Falcons were backed up to their own goal line. The ball promptly bounced off the intended receiver and into the arms of a Carolina defender for a touchdown.
It simply cannot be overstated how awful the quarterback play has been to the point it appears the Falcons are tanking on purpose. Finding another reasonable explanation for trotting out Rush and tossing Strand into the fire when the game was already lost is incredibly difficult.
Atlanta simply authored their own demise in each of the first two weeks and seeing London and Robinson share fan frustration is understandable. There is no defense of the decisions the Falcons are making and it has left a bleak two week start as one of the worst in what is a long and frustrating history of losing.
Falcons Continue to Reach New Lows as Star Playmakers Show Clear Frustrations
There isn't much recourse after the way the Falcons have lost both of the first two games in the 2026 season. With a talented Green Bay Packers roster next up on a short week, it is difficult to see the franchise turning the year around unless Michael Penix Jr. is able to prove himself healthy and ascend to a level of stardom fans haven't yet seen from the quarterback.
It is the hope the Falcons are reduced to, with many fans already giving up on the season. There simply is no way around how inexcusable this offensive effort was and not utilizing the last week of time to find a better option than Rush.
Whether it was a veteran addition or simply running a more creative offense, there is no reason that Rush should've been allowed to take the field this past Sunday. Atlanta's star players being so frustrated is something all fans feel, and there is simply no defense for a franchise that continues to invent new lows.
