Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has been a continual source of offseason trade speculation despite the team's seeming lack of interest in finding a deal. Trading the pass catcher doesn't make sense when you consider that this is the lowest possible value. If you were going to give up on Pitts, the timing should have been a season ago when the new coaching staff first took over. This is likely another case of the franchise doing things its own way, with the rest of the league refusing to believe Pitts isn't on the market.
With this in mind, head coach Raheem Morris spoke on Pitts during the team's minicamp, discussing the "hope" the team still had in Pitts based on the fact that "he's super talented."
This is hardly the first time Atlanta fans have bought into the hope that perhaps something will finally be different for the tight end with a quarterback change. Still, the rookie season accomplishments are far too impressive to ignore completely.

"He's super talented," Morris said about Pitts. "That's always going to be the thing that gives you hope. I've got a lot of belief in him."
It is yet another offseason of the fan base attempting to talk itself into the hope that a new quarterback and Pitts' talent will finally result in a breakout season. While this is a fair line of thought, it continues to ignore the real problem. The pass catcher's lack of consistent effort and ability to win his quarterback's trust.
Even with Desmond Ridder imploding the offense, the quarterback still found ways to get Drake London the football. Just as Marcus Mariota, Taylor Heinicke, and Kirk Cousins all did. The common theme here is the receiver's consistent effort and ability to win the trust of his quarterback, no matter the talent level.
Pitts' talent hasn't left for a player who is still on his rookie contract and remains extremely talented. This issue has consistently been Pitts being able to play through the whistle and putting his body on the line to earn the trust of his quarterback.
Until this changes, the results are only going to improve marginally, no matter what level of talent Penix proves to be. The Falcons are doing the right thing by letting Pitts play out the contract. However, fans continue to have a healthy level of skepticism that yet another quarterback change is going to change anything for the frustrating pass catcher.
