The Atlanta Falcons head into the 2025 NFL season looking to take things to another level. They have a roster filled with a lot of young talent and have used the last couple of weeks to get some reps in before training camp starts in July.
OTAs came to a close on June 5 for the Falcons, and the latest offseason workouts revealed that several players likely don't have a long-term future in Atlanta. With the way things looked, it appears that tight end Kyle Pitts will be playing elsewhere and spent his last OTAs with the Falcons.
Pitts wasn't able to participate in those sessions due to a strained muscle in his foot. In addition to being sidelined, reports emerged that teams called Atlanta regarding Pitts' availability.
Kyle Pitts Likely Just Attended Last OTAs With Falcons
In a recent episode of his podcast, ESPN's Adam Schefter said, "I don't think the Falcons are looking to deal him, but they're not turning away the calls either. So if there were a team that was willing to give up enough to get him, I think they could be enticed into trading the former top-five overall selection to another team."
Pitts is heading into his fifth and final year of his rookie contract with the Falcons but has been massively underwhelming since bursting on the scene as a rookie. In 2021, he had 68 catches for 1,026 receiving yards and one touchdown, giving fans a glimpse of what could be.
Since then, he has compiled 128 catches for 1,625 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. The Florida product hasn't finished with more than 667 receiving yards in three straight seasons and doesn't look like a guy who will land an extension with Atlanta.
Whether the Falcons trade him or decide to let him walk in free agency, it doesn't appear like Pitts is in the long-term plans for the team. Unless he comes through like a new player in 2025 with quarterback Michael Penix at the helm, the odds aren't high of Pitts being around.
He's been around for five years at this point, and the excitement around him is officially on life support.
