All of the Atlanta Falcons rookie headlines are understandably focused on pass rushers Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. After spending years without a capable pass rush, fans are excited for what the new pass-rushing duo might accomplish. Even if one pick proves to be a bust, fans have reason to feel they have a great chance of finding at least one franchise edge rusher. Add in rookie safety Xavier Watts, and the team has added three starters from this year's rookie class.

However, with the excitement surrounding Atlanta's first three selections, there is a potential contributor going overlooked. Safety Billy Bowman is going to be given a chance to play in the slot and attempt to win a contributing role in a thin secondary. It is a chance for Bowman's physicality to stay in the lineup without taking Watts or Jessie Bates off the field.

Billy Bowman Has a Chance to Become an Atlanta Falcons 2025 Starter

Bowman is going overlooked not only due to the excitement of Atlanta's initial three picks but also the focus on Michael Penix Jr. The quarterback change and never-ending drama surrounding Kirk Cousins demand attention as well. However, the former Sooner safety is an exciting prospect who has a chance to give the Falcons four starters from this year's class.

Even if Bowman doesn't crack the starting lineup, the team is going to want to find ways to have the defensive back on the field. Bowman's ability to attack plays and find the football. The safety consistently picked off the ball during his time in college and was an extremely physical run defender. If the Falcons can improve the rookie's tackling form, there is going to be an instant impact on the team's lineup.

This addition helps explain why the Falcons have remained content with re-signing Mike Hughes and Dee Alford as the only noteworthy moves at corner. There is a level of belief that Bowman is going to be able to help in a variety of positions in the secondary. This, along with the addition of Xavier Watts, is expected to improve the unit and give Atlanta the needed boost.

No question, Bowman is a player Atlanta fans should keep a close eye on throughout the summer and into the preseason. The rookie is going to be given every chance to become the fourth player in his class to play a meaningful role in the Falcons' lineup.
